According to the “2013 Global Go To Think Tank” report prepared by the University of Pennsylvania (United States), INESAD is for the second consecutive year among the 6% more influential Think Tanks in South America and Central America, and among the top 1% Think Tanks around the world focusing on environmental issues.
More than 6 000 Think Tanks around the world were considered for the report, and in Bolivia 50 Think Tanks were included. In Bolivia, only INESAD and Fundación Milenio are listed among the most influential in the region.
According to the report, a Think Tank is a research center whose studies in several fields are oriented to the analysis and assessment of issues of national and international interest, that allow politicians and government officials to make informed decisions about public policy. The Think Tanks are bridges between the academic community, Governments and civil society, and serve public interest.
The criteria used by the University of Pennsylvania for the report include the quality and reputation of the think tank’s staff, the quality and reputation of the research and analysis produced, the ability to recruit and retain elite scholars and analysts, the commitment to producing independent research and analysis and the impact of the research on policymakers and other policy actors.
