In the context of the Latin American Initiative for Public Policy Research (ILAIPP), Fundación INESAD organized the launch ceremony for the book “América Latina hacia la inclusión social: avances, aprendizajes y desafíos” (Latin America towards social inclusion: progress, lessons and challenges), held on 24 September 2014 at the Hotel Camino Real’s Salón Real 1, in the city of La Paz. The event was attended by 70 participants; including representatives from various private and public institutions, government, universities and international organizations.
Boris Branisa, Executive Director and Senior Researcher at Fundación INESAD, opened the ceremony by giving a brief overview of the institution and ILAIPP. He then made a presentation of the contents of the book, contextualizing it with ILAIPP.
Beatriz Muriel, Senior Researcher at Fundación INESAD, made the presentation of the main results of the study “¿Es posible construir beneficios mutuos entre comunidades y empresas mineras?: El caso San Cristóbal” (Is it possible to build mutual benefits between communities and mining companies: Minera San Cristobal Case); one of the chapters of the publication.
Subsequently, the results of this study were discussed by Gustavo Zarate, Head of Fundamental Studies of the Universidad Privada Boliviana (UPB), which led to open a debate among the audience, exhibitors and commentator.
Finally, the event ended with closing remarks provided by Ximena Coronado, President at Fundación INESAD’s Board. The, the publication was distributed among the attendees during the closure toast.
