To celebrate INESAD’s 8th anniversary, and several other small and large recent achievements, we organized a “Mini World Cup” at INESAD on the 15th of July 2014.

The main reason for celebration was the confirmation of the 2nd phase of the Think Tank Initiative, which will provide INESAD with core funding until March 2019. In addition, we just signed a Framework Agreement with the Royal Danish Embassy in La Paz, which will provide funding for two of INESAD’s priority research areas: Environment and Labor Markets, for the next three years.

Also worth celebrating was the “graduation” of junior researchers Marcelo Cardona and Carolina Cardona from INESAD. Marcelo got a job at INE and Carolina got a job at UDAPE. Both will be sorely missed, but we are very proud of them. These are excellent opportunities before going abroad to get your master’s degrees.

Finally, this party was an opportunty to welcome several new people to INESAD:
- Jhonny Suxo has been hired to work on sub-national Green National Accounting in Bolivia together with Luis Carlos Jemio and Lykke E. Andersen.
- Hai-Vu Phan, who is doing a Ph.D. at University of Southern California, is doing an Ambassador Internship at INESAD and will be collaborating on INESAD’s Review of Green National Accounting Efforts around the World, and will also help organize the 6th Bolivian Conference on Development Economics.
- Lisbeth Vogensen and Anders Nash have not yet been formally included in the INESAD team, but we are working on that.
