This year, the carnaval festivities at INESAD started with Compadres on the 16th of February. The women at INESAD had organized a Flower Power event in honor of the men at INESAD.
Here is the whole group, which is severely reduced compared to last year, both due to the end of our Danida grant and due to the tragic landslide in Auquisamaña the day before:

Still, we had fun with many team building activities, including a QR Treasure Hunt:

The compadres failed the Group Push-Up challenge, though. The challenge was to keep the whole group off the ground for 5 seconds with only the hands touching the ground, without using any other materials. After some trial-and-error experiments, they gave up.

Since the compadres claimed that the challenge was impossible, the comadres got together, talked for a minute, came up with a solution, and executed it.

Below is a collage of various tender moments during the evening:

The festivities continued with Comadres and Challa the following week. Below is the official challa group photo. There are only half the number of people compared to last year, mainly due to Danida pulling out of Bolivia. Sad!

All the more reason to do some serious challa…

Due to classes, exams, a book presentation, a football game and various other activites on the traditional day of Comadres (Thursday), we delayed it a day and held it on Challa Friday.

We also took advantage of the opportunity to reveal the winner of the most read INESAD blog of 2016. This was Lykke’s Development Roast blog “Does Education Pay in Bolivia?“. For that she received INESAD’s cute owl trophy.
Carlos Gustavo Machicado also received a recognition for the most read entry in our Spanish language blog Desarrollo sobre la Mesa: “El Indice de Progreso Social (IPS) en Bolivia.”
